The National Gridiron League front office has released the 2017 regular season schedule. The first game will take place on Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Suncorp Stadium. The season will officially kick off with a double-header between the Gold Coast Kings versus the North Coast Heat (12pm) followed by the Brisbane Outlaws versus the Logan Wolverines (4pm).
With a large amount of anticipation surrounding the launch of Australia’s 5th football code, the NGL season opener is set to be one of the epic proportions.
The standout difference from the 2016 schedule to 2017, is the move to Saturday games. The stadiums have welcomed this decision as a historically better day for attendance. The move is set to see an outstanding boost in fan numbers. In addition, a move to Saturday will provide a significant reduction in labor costs.
Another standout difference is the move of games from 1pm and 6pm to 12pm and 4pm. The key entertainment for each event will now feature after the games, and will be more in line with typical times for concerts.
Fans will experience a concert following the late game featuring a prominent performing artist as part of the league’s total entertainment package. The league is combining high-quality entertainment with football to give fans an outstanding experience and value.
With both the Queensland and New South Wales teams set to pack a punch in each doubleheader of the season, the league is excited to welcome a marathon season of outstanding American Football.
